Recent sightings - 8th May

The following sightings were recorded today by Toni Castello, warden, at low tide.

Estuary

Mute swan 5, Little egret 2, Oystercatcher +150, Shelduck 3, Black-headed gull +100.

Main lake - visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Tufted duck 6, Mallard 15, Black-headed gull +200, Coot 1, Shoveler 1, Shelduck 2.

Wadermarsh - visible from Wadermarsh lookout and Brent Hide

Black-tailed godwit 184, Knot 7, Shelduck 1, Black-headed gull 7, Lesser black-backed gull 1.

Freshwater Lagoon - visible from Brent Hide and Crannog

Mallard 5, Greylag 2, Goldeneye 1, Tufted duck 12, Common gull 2, Black-headed gull +350, Coot 1, Shelduck 1. We are delighted to see that the swallows are back in the Crannog, as they have been in the last years.

Saline Lagoon - visible from the Saline Lagoon lookout and Limekiln observatory

Black-headed gull 6, Redshank 2, Common tern 4, Mute swan 2.

Limestone Lake - Visible from the Limestone Pavillion and the Woodland lookout

Little grebe 1, Mallard 5, Tufted duck 4, Black-headed gull 2.

Peninsula Marsh - Visible from the Peninsula Marsh lookout

Oystercatcher +50, Reed bunting 1. The Sedge warbler was singing loudly this morning, in its first appearance after the winter

Great tit 1, Chaffinch 1, Robin 1, Wren 2, Blackcap 2.
