Swallows prospecting

Swallows prospecting

Swallow numbers are really picking up around the reserve with pairs beginning to prospect for nesting sites around our Saltcot Merse Observatory and Teal Pond hide. Sand Martins are in evidence foraging over the Whooper Pond. House Martin numbers are climbing and activity around the Farmhouse Tower is thus increasing. The warbler count rises with Sedge Warblers arriving on the reserve the past few days. They can be heard singing around the Scottish Water hide and Teal Pond hide.
