Stay connected with the Giant Spirit of Castle Espie

Through a series of stories and online activities we'll reveal the #GiantSpiritofCastleEspie until we can reopen.

We want to stay connected with members and supporters whilst the site remains temporarily closed to visitors due to Avian Influenza. Through a series of stories and online activities we'll reveal the #GiantSpiritofCastleEspie until we can reopen.

Behind the scenes, the WWT Castle Espie team has been working hard to protect the birds at the centre and on the wider reserve. We've also been working closely with the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs ensuring the necessary measures are in place as the team work towards reopening the site.

To keep people connected with this important place, we will bring to life a range of stories across social media from our staff, volunteers and supporters. Every week members and supporters of all ages can enjoy activities such as ‘mindful Monday moment’ featuring snippets of wildlife and nature caught on camera and short films from staff and supporters on what makes WWT Castle Espie a special place. Children will love ‘Learn along Fridays’ with WWT Castle Espie Learning Manager John McCullough. John will help kids discover the people and place that makes WWT Castle Espie as well as welcome a very special guest just in time for Christmas.

Speaking about WWT Castle Espie plans to stay connected with its members, and supporters, Paul Stewart Centre Manager said:

“Avian influenza has impacted our conservation work, our charitable income and not least our ability to welcome visitors to the centre we all love and care for. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members and supporters for their understanding and continued support, which is more valuable to us now than it has ever been. We are working closely with the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs to create the circumstances that will allow us to reopen. We will share these details as soon as we are able. Whilst we are temporarily closed we want to stay connected with you, please like and follow our social channels to hear about our campaign #GiantSpiritofCastleEspie which showcases this very special and wonderful place.”
