Recent sightings - 10th June

The following sightings were recorded today by Toni Castello, warden, at low tide. You will find a strong and beautiful evidence that the breeding season is reaching high levels of new lives in the site. Come and enjoy our new cygnets, goslings and ducklings!

Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Mallard 60, Tufted duck 18, Black-headed gull +60, Shelduck 2 adults + 12 ducklings, Coot 2, Greylag 3 adults + 1 gosling.

Wadermarsh - visible from Wadermarsh lookout and Brent Hide

Gadwall 2, Black-headed gull 2.

Freshwater lagoon – visible from Brent Hide and Crannog

Tufted duck 3, Black-headed gull +300, Mute swan 2 adults + 7 cygnets, Shelduck 2 adults + 10 ducklings, Gadwall 1, Mallard 15 adults + 2 ducklings, Dunnock 1.

Saline Lagoon - visible from Limekiln observatory

Black-headed gull +50.

Estuary – visible from Brent hide and Limekiln observatory

Black-headed gull 20, Shelduck 3, Lesser black-backed gull 3, Greater black-backed gull 2, Oystercatcher 5, Eider 4 adults + 5 ducklings, Little egret 1.

Limestone Lake - visible from Limestone Pavilion and  woodplay area lookout

Tufted duck 3 adults + 8 ducklings.

Woodland and Swamp

Dunnock 1, Chaffinch 3, Wren 4, Greenfinch 1, Goldcrest 2, Great tit 3, Robin 2.
