Recent Sightings €- 18th June 2018

The following sightings were recorded today at Mid-tide from the reserve at Castle Espie.

A couple of Common Terns are being sighted on a daily basis; using the rafts in the Main lake and the Saline Lagoon. Keep an eye out for the spectacular dives into the water to catch fish!

Estuary – visible from the Brent Hide and the Limekiln Observatory

Black-headed Gull 6, Lesser black-backed gull 2, Shelduck 2, Grey Heron 1

Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Mallard 16, Tufted duck 6, Black-headed gull 19, Moorhen 1, Common Tern 1, Gadwall 1 + 3 chicks

Shingle bank – visible from Sensory garden, Wadermarsh and Visitor Centre

Black-headed gull 3, Mallard 6, Greylag 3 + chicks 6

Wadermarsh – visible from Wadermarsh lookout and Brent Hide

Black-headed gull 4, Shelduck 6, Moorhen 3, Tufted duck 2

Freshwater Lagoon – visible from Brent Hide and Crannóg

Shelduck 2 + young 7, Mallard 9, Coot 2 + chicks 2,  Black-headed gull c.100 + many chicks!, Tufted duck 7, Moorhen 3, Mute Swan 2
