Recent Sightings €- 8th October 2018

The following sightings were recorded yesterday from the reserve at Castle Espie.  Impressive numbers of Brent geese, ducks and waders out on the estuary at present.

Estuary – visible from the Brent Hide and the Limekiln Observatory

Brent Goose c,2500,  Little Egret 18, Black-headed Gull 23, Curlew 169, Oystercatcher 153, Teal 6, Grey Heron 1, Black-tailed Godwit 83

Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Mallard 130, Tufted duck 19, Teal 50, Goldeneye 1, Coot 2, Shoveler 2

Shingle bank – visible from Sensory garden, Wadermarsh and Visitor Centre

Barnacle 1, Greylag 2,

Wadermarsh – visible from Wadermarsh lookout and Brent Hide

Black-headed gull 1, Oystercatcher 1

Freshwater Lagoon – visible from Brent Hide and Crannóg

Mallard 63, Coot 2, Teal 20

Saline Lagoon – visible from Limekiln observatory

Little Grebe 8, Heron 1

Little grebe can be seen regularly on the Saline Lagoon
