Recent Sightings €“ 21st May 2018

The following sightings were recorded today at mid-tide from the reserve at Castle Espie.  Large flocks of waders are always a spectacle to see! Big flocks of Oystercatcher are showing well from the brent hide, often roosting along the shingle bank at mid-high tide.

Estuary – visible from the Brent Hide and the Limekiln Observatory

Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Mallard 16,  Tufted duck 10, Black-headed gull 91, Coot 1, Moorhen 1, Shoveler 1, Little Grebe 1, Gadwall 2, Greylag 4 + goslings 7

Shingle bank – visible from Sensory garden, Wadermarsh and Visitor centre
