Recent Sightings €“ 28th May 2018

The following sightings were recorded today at low-tide from the reserve at Castle Espie. That time of the year has come! The Black-headed gull chicks are beginning to hatch! Keep an eye out on the Freshwater Lagoon peninsula to catch glimpses of the fluffy chicks.

Estuary – visible from the Brent Hide and the Limekiln Observatory

Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Mallard 58,  Tufted duck 6, Black-headed gull 140, Moorhen 1, Greylag 4 + goslings 6, Lesser black-backed gull 1, Goldeneye 1

Shingle bank – visible from Sensory garden, Wadermarsh and Visitor centre

Lesser black-backed gull 1, Moorhen 1, Black-headed gull 22, Mallard 22, Gadwall 2, Coot 2, Black-tailed Godwit 2, Tufted duck 1
