Exciting Improvements for Our Flamingos
A brand-new flamingo aviary is on the way, bringing better care for the birds and an even more immersive experience for visitors.
Exciting Improvements for Our Flamingos
Sometimes, even our fabulous flamingos need a little extra care and protection. On occasion, we keep them safely inside their house to prevent them from fla-mingling with wild birds, who may carry illnesses. While they might not always appreciate the indoor time, it’s an important step in keeping our flock healthy and happy.
The good news is that things are about to get even better for them!
We’re currently undertaking an exciting project to build a brand-new aviary just for our feathered friends. Once complete, this dedicated space will mean the flamingos will only need to come indoors during particularly harsh weather conditions, like strong winds or thick ice. It’s a big step forward for their wellbeing and comfort.
Our pals at Zooscapes are bringing over 20 years' experience in designing and building exhibits to undertake these works for us so everything is in very safe hands.

And it’s not just the flamingos who will benefit, our visitors are in for a treat too. The new aviary will bring you even closer to these iconic pink birds, offering a much more immersive and memorable experience. We can’t wait for you to see it!
While we’re hard at work, we’re also taking the opportunity to make some thoughtful improvements to their environment. This includes adding an access ramp to their island, making it easier for the birds to move up and down with ease. We’re also building a causeway so our keepers can better manage the vegetation and regularly top up the sand, because every flamingo deserves a beautifully maintained home. Not that we spoil them, of course… ?
The project is on track to be completed just in time for the six-week summer holidays, opening in mid-July. We’re incredibly excited to share this next chapter with you.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we carry out these essential improvements, for the benefit of both our birds and our visitors. We promise it’ll be worth the wait!
