Birds of Myth & Superstition Walk

Birds of Myth & Superstition Walk

Discover the fascinating folklore, myths and superstitions surrounding some of our most iconic wetland birds.

Date: Saturday 24 October
Time: 11am to 12pm
Meeting point: Picture Window

Suitable for visitors of all ages, this guided walk with our reserve wardens takes you through wetland reserve, exploring the stories and beliefs inspired by birds including herons, owls, swans, crows, curlews and geese.

Journey from the centre towards Wader Lake as we uncover fascinating folklore alongside surprising wildlife facts. Along the way, families can get involved in simple interactive activities and challenges, while children can complete their own Wetland Myth Explorer Sheet as they discover the stories behind six wetland birds.

It’s a fun and engaging way for everyone to experience our wetlands, discover more about the birds that call them home and uncover some of the mysterious tales they have inspired throughout history.

Accessibility: This guided walk follows accessible paths, with level viewing points and clear signage. There will be opportunities to rest throughout the walk, with regular stops for discussions along the way. You can find more information about accessibility at our centre here.
