Swap the spooky for a SUPER Natural family-friendly Halloween adventure this October half-term at WWT Washington

A magical day out at Washington Wetland Centre.

For one week only, discover a world of natural wonder and mystery this autumn. Perfect for younger children, this magical experience offers a scare-free day out in nature. Explore the magical superpowers and folklore of the wetlands. With charming wildlife, seasonal creativity and plenty of outdoor fun and surprises, it's an awesome experience that will leave nature lovers spellbound. 

Experience a spellbinding selection of seasonal entertainment

• Create handmade willow wands and mix colourful marshland potions every day in our Discovery Centre from 1:00pm to 2:00pm

• Join a reserve walk: Birds of Myth and Superstition and explore the stories behind iconic wetland birds (Saturday 24 October, 11:00am-12:00pm)

• Create a magical fairy ring wreath from gathered forest treasures (Sunday 25 & Monday 26 October in our Discovery Centre, 10:30am - 11:30am)

• Examine an owl pellet in our owl pellet dissecting workshop (Tuesday 27, Wednesday 28 & Thursday 29 October at Hunters Creek cabin, 10:30am - 11:30am) 

• Step inside Michael Turner’s Cabinet of Curiosities! Built up over 40 years, this remarkable collection brings together an intriguing mix of natural treasures and unusual finds from across the globe, from fossils and dinosaur teeth to skulls, shells, corals, feathers and insects. (Wednesday 28 October at our Discovery Centre, 1:00pm-3:00pm)

• Discover tiny underwater creatures with pond dipping (Friday 30 & Saturday 31 at our Pondzone, 10:30am - 11:30am)

• Search for small but mighty creatures on a minibeast hunt (Sunday 1 November at Hollowood, 10:30am - 11:30am)

• Follow the Wet Wood wild things trail and uncover hidden wonders along the way on a self-led trail

It’s all about wonder, discovery and fun in nature – no jump scares here!

What should we wear when we visit?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in to suit the weather on the day of your visit.

Don't let a wet or cold day put you off visiting! We have lots of outdoor and indoor activities, so SUPER Natural is perfect for all weather conditions. (Halloween costumes are welcome, too!) Whether it is rainy or cold, autumn is a great time to visit WWT.

Is the SUPER Natural event included in the entrance ticket price?

Most SUPER Natural activities are included with your standard entrance ticket. Entrance is free for WWT members - find out more when you visit.
