Orchids and Wildflower Walk

Join us for a relaxed guided walk exploring the wildlife and plants that make Washington Wetland Centre so special in early summer. If the weather is suitable, we’ll head up to the Top Meadow, where June brings a mix of colour, insects and new growth.

Orchids and Wildflower Walk

Join us for a Orchids and Wildflower Walk.

Dates: Saturday 6th June

Time: 11am - 1pm

Meeting point: Meet in WWT Washington centre - Picture Window

Take a relaxed stroll with our volunteer Melissa as she explores the wildlife and plants that make Washington Wetland Centre come alive in early summer. We’ll wander up to the Top Meadow, where June brings fresh growth, colour and plenty of insect activity.

We’ll take a gentle look at spring flowers, meadow bugs, bees, butterflies and the botany of the area. If the sun is out, we’ll also explore which creatures feed on plants and which ones help pollinate them.

This is a great time of year for orchids, and you may spot bee orchids, northern marsh orchids and common spotted orchids along the way.

A calm, easy walk suitable for anyone who enjoys noticing the small details of the natural world.
