Pectoral sandpiper - 1 (Far side of reserve from main observatory) Greensandpiper - 1 Spoonbill - 3 (Lyle hide) Little egret - 20 (Lyle hide) Good numebrs of teal, shoveler and some gadwall in the pools in front of the hides as well as lots of dragonflie

Pectoral sandpipers
There are still 2 Pectoral sandpipers on the reserve and we are opening an extra section of the summer walk to allow closer access. This terrain will be wet and muddy and we ask visitors that they keep to the signposted route.

Black-tailed godwit - 7 So far on the main lagoon there are mallard, shoveler, teal and a pintail all in various stages of eclipse plumage. Plenty of dragonfly activity as well as the day begins to warm up! Green sandpiper - 4 Kingfisher - 1

A change in the seasons at Welney
Late morning Spotted redshank - 1 Green sandpiper - 8 Common sandpiper - 1 Turnstone - 15 Dunlin - 1 Little egret There seems to be a real change in the seasons here at Welney today with lapwing and other waders starting to flock and wildfowl gathering on
