The reserves looking fantastic this morning, with relatively low water levels drawing in large flocks of ducks around all the hides. No sign of the reported green-winged teal from yesterday yet though but a noticeable increase in goldeneye with up to 10

Dawn swan roost count
The reserve team went out an hour before dawn and counted all the swans that were roosting on the reserve. Whooper swans 3,864 Bewick's swans 765

Today Louise and Katy from the reserves team went out and counted all the wetland birds currently at WWT Welney this involves a 13 mile walk all the way around the 1000 acre reserve counting everything they see. They do this the same day as every other

Friends hide Black-winged stilt in amongst lapwings - 1 Grey plover - 3 Dunlin - 25 Bewick's swans - family group flew in to the reserve during the day, 2 adults and 3 cygnets. The next swan count is due this week so check back for total numbers. Marsh
