This enchanting seasonal event, running for one week only from Saturday 24 October – Sunday 1 November, invites families to discover the wonders, wildlife and folklore of wetlands through hands-on activities and outdoor adventures.
Designed with younger children in mind, SUPER Natural offers a scare-free way to celebrate Halloween, encouraging families to get outdoors, explore nature, and uncover the mood-boosting superpowers of wetlands.
On arrival, visitors can pick up a SUPER Natural logbook and set off on a self-guided journey around the wetlands, discovering autumn wildlife and nature-inspired activities along the way.

What’s on across WWT sites
- Weave a little magic with a handmade willow wand
- Mix a marshland potion and make a wish for wetlands and wildlife
- Search for spotted tops, giant domes and more on a mysterious fungi hunt
- Examine an owl’s pellet and unlock the secrets of its midnight feast
- Step into the magic of a fairy mushroom ring
- Go pond dipping and discover a world of mini beasts under the water
Autumn transforms WWT wetlands into vibrant landscapes bursting with life. As migrating birds arrive in spectacular flocks and fungi emerge across the reserves – from crimson waxcaps to ghostly inkcaps – wetlands provide the perfect setting for an autumnal day out.

Many WWT sites will also be offering additional seasonal experiences during October half term, including canoe adventures, pumpkin carving, UV light science shows, and the Mystical Marsh Lantern Experience at WWT Slimbridge, leaving nature fans of all ages spellbound.
Evidence shows that connecting with nature makes children feel happier, boosts their self-esteem and improves their behaviour, as well as their physical and mental health. Hands-on outdoor experiences help young people build confidence, curiosity and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
With different activities taking place across WWT’s wetland sites nationwide, families can enjoy accessible autumn adventures, all while learning why wetlands are some of the most extraordinary habitats on earth.
