Recent Sightings 12th February 2018

A very cold and frosty morning on the reserve! The following sightings were recorded today at low tide from Castle Espie:

Estuary – visible from the Brent Hide and the Limekiln Observatory

Curlew 12, Oystercatcher 321, Brent goose 51, Redshank 54, Dunlin 276, Black-headed gull 1, Great black-backed gull 1, Shelduck 65, Knot ~200, Shoveler 6

Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Cormorant 5, Little egret 7, Mute swan 3, Coot 1, Mallard 183, Black-headed gull 53, Oystercatcher 3, Teal 9, Shoveler 6, Gadwall 4, Moorhen 2, Tufted duck 36

Wader marsh – visible from the lookout and the Brent Hide

Freshwater Lagoon – visible from Brent Hide and Crannóg
