Centre closure

Recent Sightings 16th October 2017

Severe weather warnings - unfortunately we have had to close the reserve for safety reasons. However, the following sightings were recorded today at Castle Espie:

 

Estuary – visible from the Brent Hide and the Limekiln Observatory

Brent Geese ~1000, Little Egret 2, Curlew 12, Black-tailed godwit 3, Black-headed gull 8, Redshank 20, Mute swan 1

Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Mallard 96, Moorhen 1, Tufted Duck 6, Coot 4, Black-headed gull 12

Wader marsh – visible from Wader marsh lookout and Brent Hide

Coot2, Moorhen 1, Little egret 1

Freshwater Lagoon – visible from Brent Hide and Crannog

Mallard 62, Coot 1, Tufted duck 3, Moorhen 1

Saline Lagoon – visible from Lime Kiln Observatory

Little egret 1

Limestone Lake
