Recent sightings - 18th April

The following sightings were recorded today by Toni Castello, warden, near high tide.

Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Mallard 20, Tufted duck 12, Coot 1, Black-headed gull 100.

Wadermarsh - visible from Brent Hide

Black-headed gull 95, Black-tailed godwit 350 (the numbers of this species are growing, preparing themselves fro the migratory trip to Iceland).

Freshwater lagoon – visible from Brent Hide and Crannog

Mallard 6, Tufted duck 3, , Gadwall 1, Black-headed gull 300, Lesser black-backed gull 2, Mute swan 2 (the female is incubating 3 eggs at the moment!).

Saline Lagoon

Black-headed gull 90.

Estuary – visible from Brent hide and Limekiln observatory

Black-headed gull 30, Oystercatcher 150.

Peninsula Marsh - visible from Limekiln observatory and P. Marsh lookout

Sparrowhawk 1 (a female patrolling this morning in search of prey).
