Centre closure

Recent sightings - 19th January

The following sightings were recorded today by Toni Castello, warden, near high tide.

Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Mallard +200, Tufted duck 13, Coot 3, Black-headed gull 10, Gadwall 2.

Wadermarsh - visible from Brent Hide

Redshank 3, Black-headed gull 2, Curlew 1.

Freshwater lagoon – visible from Brent Hide and Crannog

Coot 3.

Saline lagoon - visible from Limekiln observatory

Little grebe 6, Little egret 1, Redshank 2, Greenshank 1.

Estuary – visible from Brent hide and Limekiln observatory

Light-bellied brent geese 20, Shelduck +250, Oystercatcher +100, Curlew +30, Redshank +20, Black-headed gull +30. A Spoonbill was spotted yesterday close to the Pier-Limekiln observatory, so please keep an eye on this!!

Peninsula Field – visible from the Field Marsh lookout 

Oystercatcher 15, Curlew 30. It seems that our efforts in grassland management are fruiting!!
