Recent Sightings – 26th March 2018

A really calm morning here at Castle Espie with hardly a wave on the estuary.   The following sightings were recorded today at high tide:

 

Estuary – visible from the Brent Hide and the Limekiln Observatory

Brent goose 54, Black-headed gull 5, Shelduck 6, Curlew 18, Redshank 8, Lesser black-backed gull 1, mallard 4, Oystercatcher 100+, Redshank 6

Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Black-headed gull 220, Gadwall 4, Oystercatcher 3, Mallard 32, Greylag 1, Tufted duck 25, Teal 6, Shoveler 1, Little Egret 1, Shelduck 6

Wader marsh – visible from the lookout and the Brent Hide

Black-headed gull 47, Greenshank 1, Teal 2, Mallard 2, Coot 2, Curlew 1

 Linnet seen this morning on willow near the Limekiln Observatory.

Freshwater Lagoon – visible from Brent Hide and Crannóg

Mallard 3, Black-headed gull 256, Mute swan 2, Greylag 4, Tufted 3, Lesser black-backed gull 2, Coot 4
