Recent sightings - 2nd October

The following sightings were recorded today by Toni Castello, warden, at low tide.

Main lake - visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Mallard 70, Tufted duck 13, Coot 2, Gadwall 1, Pintail 1, Common teal 30, Mute swan 1.

Wadermarsh - visible from Wadermarsh lookout and Brent Hide

Common teal 2, Mute swan 2. A nice flock of 20-30 Twite is being very faithful to this marsh in the last days.

Freshwater Lagoon - visible fron Brent Hide and Crannog

Mallard 25, Coot 1, Willow warbler 1.

Estuary - visible from the Brent Hide and the Limekiln Observatory

Brent geese 1800, Oystercatcher 10, Curlew 10, Redshank 1, Little egret 1, Shelduck 3, Black-headed gull 20. Amazing views of Strangford Lough plenty of birds in these sunny, quiet beautiful morning.

Little grebe 4, Grey heron 1.

Limestone Lake - visible from the woodland lookout

Woodland

Two juvenile buzzard were around the woodland yesterday evening, constantly chased by Jackdaws. Coal tit 2, Robin 3, Great tit 1.
