Recent Sightings 5th February 2018

A very cold and frosty morning on the reserve! The following sightings were recorded today at low tide from Castle Espie:

Estuary – visible from the Brent Hide and the Limekiln Observatory

Great black-backed gull 1, Black-headed gull 4, Brent goose 61, Curlew 2, Shelduck 73, Little egret 2, Oystercatcher 21, Dunlin 14, Redshank 3

Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Cormorant 2, Mallard 148, Tufted duck 41, Coot 6, Wigeon 14, Gadwall 3, Moorhen 1, Black-headed gull 19, Greylag 1

Wader marsh – visible from the lookout and the Brent Hide

Black-headed gull 12, Curlew 1, Greenshank 2, Moorhen 4, Grey heron 2, Teal 10

Freshwater Lagoon – visible from Brent Hide and Crannóg

Mallard 48, Moorhen 5, Coot 2, Grey heron 1, Mute swan 1, Shoveler 5
