Barn Owlets get leg rings
We've been watching the barn owls boxes and knew there were chicks inside one.
Early Friday morning the Reserve Team checked the owl box with a Licensed ringer to discover 3 barn owlets. The owlets were rung with BTO leg rings, DARVIC bands, and colour rings. Turn out the fluffy bundles are two males and a female.
Our Reserve Wardens Suzi, Abbie and Hannah have named the owlet trio after the letters on their new DARVIC bands, ALFie, ALDo and CLAire (who was ALC). The gorgeous owlets are estimated to be 39-45 days old.
We’ve been seeing a kingfisher around the Scrape hide.

Scrape hide: 1 little egrets, 1 female gadwall with almost full grown duckling
Wetland Discovery: 2 mallards, 2 canada geese, 1 wren, 1 wood pigeon, 1 reed warbler, 2 goldfinches
Ramsar and Sand Martin hide: 2 little egrets, 2 cormorants, 2 cattle egrets, 1 marsh harrier, 1 great white egret, c30 sdand martins, 3 shovelers

Ramsar and Sand Martin hide: 6 cormorant, 2 little egrets, 4 cattle egrets, 1 great white egrets
Arun Riverlife lagoon: 4 canada geese, 5 mallards, 2 black-headed gulls with well grown chick on the water

Ramsar and Sand Martin hide: 6 cormorants, two preening each other, 11 cattle egrets, 2 marsh harriers plus 3 juveniles
Scrape hide: 2 marsh harrier, 1 great white egret
Reedbed Willow Sphere: 3 wood pigeons, 3 wrens, 3 long-tailed tits, 4 goldfinches, 1 mandarin duck, 2 blue tits, 17 mallards

Sand martin hide: 1 teal, 3 cormorants, 8 cattle egrets, 6 linnets, 2 little egrets, 2 tfted ducks, 1 gadwall, 1 marsh harrier male and 4 juveniles, 4 tufted ducks, 1 cattle egret, 9 Egyptian geese, 3 gadwall, c 80 sand martins
Scrape hide: 1 great white egret, 4 mandarin ducks, 3 coots, 16 mallards, 38 gadwall, 1 goldfinch, 5 Canada geese, 4 tufted ducks, c20 sand martins, 4 wood pigeons, 1 moorhen.
Arun Riverlife lagoon: 1 tufted duck
Pelican Cove: 1 pair tufted ducks with 2 ducklings
Lakes and Forests: 2 mandarin ducks
Meadow Pond: 1female tufted ducks with 9 ducklings, 2 gadwalls
Reedbed Willow Sphere: 2 tufted ducks

Scrape hide: 1 kingfisher
Ramsar and Sand Martin hide: 1 kingfisher, 48 black-headed gulls, 2 tufted ducks, 23 mallards, 2 Canada geese, 3 coots, 26 gadwall, 2 mute swans, 2 greylag geese, 2 moorhens, 5 cormorants, 2 little egrets, 8 cattle egrets, 2 mandarin ducks, 2 wood pigeon, 2 shoveler ducks, 1 teal, c 30 sand martins.
