Birds of prey and great white egret
A few sightings of birds of prey on site this week from the Scrape hide. We are still seeing the marsh harrier there most days, thanks to Alec Pelling for this amazing photo above. A red kite was spotted on Tues 13 May, and a hobby was sighted on Wed 14 May. A great white egret is showing here periodically as well
Cetti’s, sedge and reed warblers all around this week with black caps, too. Reed bunting sights and a lesser white throat and a whitethroat this week as well.
Lots of goslings around with greylags pairs, Canada geese pairs and even the Egyptian goose pair. A few mallard ducklings about and two pair of mute swans have cygnets in tow.
