Insect high!

Most notable at the moment are the number of different insects busying themselves around the reserve. Butterflies seem to be fluttering out of everywhere, including Brimstone, Red admiral, Small tortoiseshell, Gatekeeper, Meadow brown, Common Blue, Peacock, Small and Large whites and Green veined white. Bumblebee queens and males are most noticeable of several different species. First Migrant hawkers seen yesterday and Silver Y and Red Underwing moths are also to look out for.

Water voles are booming this year with great sightings around most of the reserve.

Bird visitors include 1 Wigeon, 2 Shoveler, 19 Teal and 2 Grey herons.
