We are in between the breeding and wintering
seasons now. The cattle egrets young have fledging and have been spending the days offsite in neighbouring fields, but they come back
on site to roost of in the evening. We have been seeing a couple of great white egrets regularly, along with grey herons and cormorants.
There are still some sand martins on site, although
many have gathered along with house martins that have started their long
migration already. Many duck species are still in eclipse and so hiding away,
but we are seeing more juvenile shovelers out and about, along with the odd
teal and common sandpiper. Tufted duck juveniles have done well and can still be seen in the Meadow Pond and on Pelican Cove.
Highlights: Kingfisher sightings on the Waterside Walk area, and near Scrape hide.

Reedbed Willow Sphere: 3 female mandarins
Scrape hide: 1 great white egret, 1 juvenile grey heron, 65 mallards (45 male, 24 female), 1 Cetti’s warbler, 2 female tufted ducks, 5 gadwall ( 2pairs and 1 female), 2 female shovelers, 1 moorhen, 1 chiffchaff, 1 mandarin , 1 coot, 1 blue tut, 1 wood pigeon, 1 teal
Trumpeter pond: 2 gadwall
Sand Martin hide: 1 female teal, 17 gadwall, 6 sand martins, 1 shelduck, 1 cormorat, 1 common sandpiper,2 female tufted ducks
Ramsar hide: 2 Egyptian gees, 4 cormorants, a pair of gadwall, 3 tufted ducks, 2 cattle egrets.

Ramsar and Sand martin hide: 1 great white egret, 1 shelduck, 15 mallards, 4 coots, 19 gadwall, 1 shoveler, 1 tufted duck, 3 wood pigeons, 1 Cetti’s warbler, 1 moorhen, 1 female teal.

Lapwing hide: 1 moorhen, 1 goldfinch.
