Sandpipers and Osprey
We have had a few common sandpipers in again this week, look out for them on the island opposite the Sand Martin hide and the big island opposite the Ramsar hide.
An osprey was spotted overflying the site on Sunday and a honey buzzard flew over on Saturday.
A great white egret is still around the Scrape hide. Lots of gadwall onsite. Kingfishers are appearing as well.
Highlight: When the Reserve Team was in at night for a bat survey they spotted a huge crowd of cattle egrets roosting in the tree in the middle of the waters opposite the Scrape hide!

Sand Martin hide: 1 grey heron, 1 shelduck, 34 gadwall,3 tufted ducks, 3 teal, 2 shoveler
Wildlife garden: 5 blackcaps
Ramsar hide: 2 cormorants, 1 gadwall, 3 sand martins

Ramsar & Sand Martin hide: 25 gadwall, 21 mallards, 7 tufted ducks, 4 shoveler, 1 shelduck, 2 coots, 1 teal, 2 Egyptian geese, 1 moorhen, 1 woodpigeon, 3 black-headed gulls, 7 cattle egrets, 1 great white egret
Scrape hide: 1 little grebe

Arun Riverlife: 1 kingfisher
Wetland Discovery: 1 Cetti’s warbler, 1 robin, 1 blue tit, 1 wren, 2 Canada geese, 1 bullfinch, 1 pheasant, 1 woodpigeon, 1 chaffinch
Ramsar and Sand martin hide: 33 gadwall, 1 great white egret, 1 Egyptian goose, 3 juvenile shoveler ducks
Scrape hide: 12 shovelers, 1 shelducks, 1 kingfisher
Fly Over reserve: 1 osprey.

Ramsar & Sand martin hide: 1 great white egret
Fly over reserve: 1 honey buzzard – visitor sighting confirmed with photo.

Woodland Loop: 6 mallards, 2 robins, 1 moorhen, 2 dunnock, 3 blue tits, 3 chaffinches
Arun Riverlife: 1 kingfisher perched to right of the bank
Ramsar hide: 2 redshank
Sand Martin hide: 1 common sandpiper on island opposite.
Thursday 4 September

Reedbed: 27 mallards, 1 moorhen, 1 coot, 1 gadwall, 1 Cetti’s warbler
Lapwing hide: 1 barn owl.
