Teal and lapwing numbers up
We are seeing 20+ teal and 10+ lapwing each morning between the Ramsar hide and the Sand martin hide this past week. The highest count for teal was 27 on Monday; for lapwing, it was 31 last Sunday. There were 2 wigeon onsite on last Friday as well.
A handful of shelduck have been seen daily as well – look out for them from the Ramsar, Sand martin and Scrape hides.
Last week we stayed open later on Wednesday 8th and Saturday the 11 for the evening roost. Ten marsh harriers were counted on Saturday, six – seven on Wednesday but it was darker earlier that day.
Check out the egret roost to the right of the Ramsar hide in the afternoon up until 4:20 pm when you ‘ll need to head in for closing.
