Recent Sightings 18th - 20th December

British Steel Hide

Now that the water level pipe has been fixed a good selection of waders are using the Saline Lagoons again, including: Grey Plover, Greenshank, Redshank, Curlew, Dunlin, Lapwing, Black-tailed Godwit and Snipe. There has also been a good selection of birds of prey including a couple of Sparrowhawks, a Peregrine and a Buzzard. There are six Spoonbills still around as well as a good numbers of Little Egrets. On the Dafen Scrapes the water level has risen making it more suitable for wildfowl, such as Wigeon, Shoveler, Gadwall, Pochard and Tufted Duck.

Millennium Wetlands

Two Otters showed brilliantly in front of the Peter Scott Hide on the 20th. There is still a good numbers of wildfowl on the Deep Water Lake including: Gadwall, Teal, Shoveler and Pochard. There is also a Grey Heron that has been catching a few eels which can be a challenge for it to eat but quite entertaining to watch.
