Recent Sightings 26th-28th February

British Steel Hide

Out on the Salt Marsh a Short-eared Owl was seen briefly and hasn't been sighted since. There are plenty of birds using the Saline Lagoons with lots of Gulls as well as a good selection of waders which includes: Black-tailed Godwits, Greenshank, Redshank, Dunlin, Lapwing, Curlew and Snipe. Its been very quiet on the Dafen Scrapes recently, the usual Wildfowl is still around which includes: Shoveler, Tufted Duck, Shelduck and Gadwall.

Millennium Wetlands

A Goshawk was seen over the Deep Water lake yesterday afternoon. The Otter was seen from the Herons Wing Hide yesterday afternoon also and stayed in view for at least 30 minutes. There are still quite a few Redwing about along with Greenfinches and a few Goldcrests.


Over the Grounds two Red Kites showed brilliantly near the Observatory hide flying very low affording excellent views.
