Recent sightings 28th - 30th November

Good numbers visible from the hides, with the Avocets gradually getting closer!

British Steel Hide

Regular sightings of Black-tailed godwits, Snipe, Shelduck and Wigeon have been seen out form the steel hide in good numbers. 400 Lapwing have been seen taking refuge among the Lagoons and the Spoonbill continues to make an appearance feeding amongst the ditches. Three Avocets have been seen daily since Monday this week, gradually getting closer to the hides, offering a better view to visitors. A Peregrine also makes regular hunts along the estuary in the hopes of catching an unwary wader.

Millennium Wetlands

On Thursday and Friday had good sighting of Otters from the new screens on the Northern loop. Good numbers of Gadwall, Tufted duck and Teal have been seen from the Herons wing hide. Red kite has been seen soaring over the Millennium Wetlands. Long-tailed tits, Goldfinches, Chaffinch and Jays have all been making use of the feeders out on the reserve. Water rail has been seen feeding along the ditches behind the Herons wing hide.
