British Steel Hide

There have consistently been great numbers of knot, lapwing and curlew on the saline lagoons this week. A great white egret was spotted on sunday along with our familiar six spoonbill. Out on the estuary, there have been good numbers of beautiful pintail and oystercatcher. Its been nice to see up to four meadow pipits on the Dafen scrapes. A kestrel has been making many visits recently too.

Millennium Wetlands

Mammals have been the stars of the show this week on deep water lake, with an otter being caught on camera and a water vole being seen swimming as well! Bird highlights include pintail and pochard along with all the other ducks in their beautiful winter plumage. A little grebe has been spotted diving and swimming around too.
