British Steel Hide

Recent high tides have brought in a good selection of waders to the saline lagoon which include Curlew, Whimbrel, Snipe, Redshank, Spotted Redshank, Bar-tailed Godwit, Greenshank, Dunlin and Knot. It's nice to see two of the Spoonbills have returned to the saline lagoons. A kingfisher has been seen fishing on the saline lagoon too.

Wigeon numbers have started to increase on the Dafen scrapes in readiness for the large winter flocks. A pair of Garganey, two Ruff and a Green Sandpiper can be seen foraging around the edge of the scrapes.

Millennium wetlands

A Goshawk was seen flying over the Deep Water Lake. The Great White Egret was seen fishing out of the Heron's wing hide along with many Little Egrets roosting in the trees. A family of Little Grebes have been showing nicely from the Peter Scott hide. The bridge to the Herons Wing hide is a great place to see Common Darter Dragonflies.
