Recent Sightings (3rd-7th March)

British Steel Hide

Recent wader counts from the steel hide have included 2 Spotted Redshanks (7th), 25 Lapwing, 507 Dunlin, 56 Curlew, 24 Redshank, 4 Greenshank, 133 Black-tailed Godwits and 27 Knot. 2 Spoonbills were still viewable from the hide on the 6th. Wildfowl counts include 12 Tufted Ducks, 105 Teal, 15 Canada Geese, 4 Greylag Geese, 5 Pochard, 2 Shoveler, 4 Gadwall, 53 Wigeon and a Pintail. Two Buzzards, 3 Common Gulls have also been seen from the hide.

Millennium Wetlands

Wildfowl counts from Deep Water Lake have included the Ring-necked Duck (up until the 3rd), 60 Pintail, 24 Tufted Ducks, 4 Pochard, 2 Canada Geese, 10 Shoveler and 32 Gadwall. Waders have included 10 Snipe, 129 Black-tailed Godwits and 4 Lapwing. A Water Pipit was seen from the Peter Scott Hide on the 7th. 4 Hawfinches were seen on the 3rd, with one by the site entrance and three in the trees behind the Michael Powell Hide. A Brambling is still frequenting the café feeders.
