Plan Your Visit: Sunday 8 February

The Llanelli Half Marathon is taking place on Sunday. WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre is open as usual. Access is maintained from the Loughor Bridge side, but the road from the Machynys side will be closed until around 11am. All roads should reopen as normal from 11am. Map and full info here.

Recent Sightings 4th - 7th January

British Steel Hide

Out on the Estuary there has been good numbers of Brent Geese, Pintail and Oystercatchers where there has also been a female Merlin sighted. On the Saline Lagoons the usual Spoonbills have been showing well along with a good selection of waders which includes: Grey Plover, Greenshank, Redshank, Dunlin, Knot, Black-tailed Godwit and Lapwing. On the Dafen Scrapes there has been a good variety of wildfowl such as: Pochard, Shoveler, Wigeon, Shelduck, Tufted Duck and an unusual Mallard - Shelduck hybrid.

Millennium Wetlands

On the Deep Water Lake there has been a Cetti's Warbler and Water Rail heard from the Peter Scott Hide. There is also a wide variety of wildfowl such as: Wigeon, Pochard, Shoveler, Mallard, Gadwall and Tufted Duck. There has also been a female Goldeneye seen from various viewing screens along the Northern Loop.
