British Steel Hide
Our birds of prey are still active around the salt marshes, with a Peregrine and two Marsh Harriers being spotted by the Osprey post and over the Dafen Scrapes. There are also range of ducks to be seen here, with Shoveler and Shelduck being the most common. 160 Greylag geese have also frequented the Salt Marshes. Lesser black backed, Common and Black-headed gulls have also been seen from the British Steel Hide. Only small numbers of Black-tailed Godwit have been seen, likely due to the active predators dispersing our waders.
Millennium Wetlands
The Hobby continues to make appearances around early afternoon, hunting for Dragon Flies and small birds. A Cattle Egret has also been seen on Monday and Tueday on Deep Water Lake. Teal, Mallard, Gadwall and Tufted ducks have all been seen in numbers between 10-20 individuals, with a few Shoveler making an appearance. Small numbers of Lapwing, Snipe and Black-tailed Godwit have also been seen around Deep Water Lake.
We still have a few butterfly species around the reserve, with Speckled Wood and Red Admirals being seen.
