WWT Llanelli will be closed for one day on Wednesday 20 May.

We’re sorry for this short-term inconvenience, but this date has been chosen to allow our team to rearrange the shop and entrance ahead of the upcoming Welcome Project construction, and get everything ready in time for a fantastic May half-term experience. We will reopen on Thursday 21 May as usual. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Millennium Wetlands

A beautiful barn owl was on the northern loop this week. An otter has been seen from the Peter Scott hide, along with a kingfisher on one of the perches outside the hide. There a two great crested grebe chicks and three little grebe chicks on deep water lake at the moment. An influx of migratory chiffchaffs have been heard calling from the tops of trees. Very impressive emperor moth and rusty tussock caterpillars have been recorded on site too.

Saline and Freshwater Lagoon

The wood sandpiper is still showing nicely on the dafen scrapes. High tides this week bought in good numbers of curlew, black-tailed godwit, redshank and greenshank to the scrapes.
