A joyous sight on Friday morning was 2 Snipe on the stone islands in front of the Peter Scott hide. This area seems quite a popular place for some of our rarer birds, with a Cattle Egret being spotted late last Friday afternoon.

This week also saw a WEBS (Wetlands Bird Survey) count on Tuesday morning, which included 796 Black-tailed Godwit, 262 Curlew, 207 Knot, 56 Dunlin, 45 Greenshank, 7 Wigeon, 6 Spoonbill, 3 Grey Plover, 2 Curlew Sandpiper, and a Great White Egret.

A selection of other wildlife highlights this week include a Barn Owl over Dafen Scrapes, a Clouded Yellow Butterfly and a Water Shrew in the Millennium Wetlands, a Kingfisher on the Marsh Scrapes and a Great Spotted Woodpecker seen over the Grounds.
