Families invited to get gloriously muddy as Mudfest splashes back at WWT London
Stomp, splash and squelch this February half-term
Back by popular demand, Mudfest is returning to WWT London from 14–22 February 2026, inviting families across London to stomp, splash and squelch their way into the wonderful world of wetlands.
Designed for children to embrace the outdoors and get joyfully messy, Mudfest offers one week of muddy magic.
Visitors can dive into a packed programme of activities, from mud-kitchen creations and mud art to seed bomb making and nest building. Families can discover just how marvellous mud is and learn how it plays such a vital role in superpowered wetlands.
“Mudfest is all about embracing the mess – it’s such a fun way for families to roll up their sleeves and really connect with nature,” said Ruth Thomas, Experience and Engagement Manager at WWT London.
“Mud isn’t just messy – it’s magical. A single cubic metre of estuary mud holds the same calorific content as 16 chocolate bars, showing just how important mud is for wetland wildlife.”
Through Mudfest, WWT aims to show families how even the muddiest habitats are bursting with life.
Alongside marvellous muddy activities, visitors can also enjoy otter feedings, spotlight talks and a range of other nature-inspired experiences throughout the February half-term holiday, making WWT London the perfect place for families looking for fresh air, adventure and an accessible day out.
All Mudfest activities are free for WWT members and included in admission ticket. Non-members can also pre-book online to save 10% their wetland adventure.
