Chilean flamingos

Our flock of Chilean flamingos is currently being housed indoors. This is a temporary measure as a precaution to local avian influenza (bird flu).
We don't know how long this will last but we'll let you know as soon as they are safe to be back outdoors!

Breeding bird update

WA avocet with curlew, redshank and oystercatcher Feb 2014Each year our reserve manager John produces a Breeding Bird Survey Summary, detailing the successes and stories of the key wild bird species that have bred here on site.

The 2015 results are now in and highlights include seven nesting avocet pairs, in what was their tenth breeding season at WWT Washington and linnet, which hadn't bred here in recent memory until last year.
