Chilean flamingos

ℹ️ Flamingos off show
Our flock of Chilean flamingos is currently being housed indoors. This is a temporary measure as a precaution to local avian influenza (bird flu).
We don't know how long this will last but we'll let you know as soon as they are safe to be back outdoors!
Thanks for your understanding.

Dragonflies and damselflies

There are dragonflies and damselflies aplenty on site at the moment - a sure sign that summer is here (although the weather some days tells a different story!).

These pictures were taken at the Pondzone area, where a school on a day trip were lucky enough to watch as the Southern hawker naiad (the name of the immature form that a dragonfly takes) found the weak spot behind the head of its larval skin and pushed through to emerge into the June sunshine.

Isn't nature amazing!?
