Chilean flamingos

ℹ️ Flamingos off show
Our flock of Chilean flamingos is currently being housed indoors. This is a temporary measure as a precaution to local avian influenza (bird flu).
We don't know how long this will last but we'll let you know as soon as they are safe to be back outdoors!
Thanks for your understanding.

Spot, draw and splash your way through our wetlands this winter

Winter truly is the most wonderful time of year for wetlands. Wild, watery and full of life - there’s no better place to soak in nature.

Spot, draw and splash your way through our wetlands this winter

Visit WWT Washington this season and have an outdoor family adventure whatever the weather, with our Wild Welly Walks trail, incredible wetland wildlife and festive crafts to enjoy.

Pick up a free Wild Welly Walks activity guide from Monday 1 December-Sunday 2 February to spot, draw and splash your way through winter (and don't forget to collect your FREE cookie on completion!).

Or join us in the Discovery Centre from Saturday 20-Monday 22 December as we get into the festive spirit with hands-on crafts for the whole family to enjoy.

Plus, don’t miss your chance to discover our seasonal wetlands. In winter they are dramatic and changeable; with frosty scenery, colourful woodland birds aplenty and lots of waders on easy view from our various hides.

Resident otters Musa and Buster are fed twice-daily during our keeper talks and Waterside Café is the ideal cosy spot for warming up with a delicious homemade treat after your chilly wander.
