Our flock of Chilean flamingos is currently being housed indoors. This is a temporary measure as a precaution to local avian influenza (bird flu).
We don't know how long this will last but we'll let you know as soon as they are safe to be back outdoors!

Our reserve manager John Gowland met up with the Sunderland Echo's Alison Goulding on her lunch break, as part of Bird Watching magazine's Birding Lunch campaign (1-5 April 2013).

The initiative aims to highlight the abundance of amazing bird life that can be seen in a short space of time, in the most urban of places, if you just look closely enough.
