Dragonfly sculpture launch and parade

Come and celebrate the launch of our breathtaking new art installation Iridescence with a colourful dragonfly parade!
Join us on Wednesday 23 July 2025 for a day of creativity and community spirit with a joyful, family-friendly event that invites visitors of all ages to explore the wonder of wetlands in a whole new way.
Part of WWT's Dragonfly Festival, a summer full of dragonfly-themed events and activities.
What can I expect on the day?
- Make your very own dragonfly at our Discovery Centre
- Get your face painted and transform into a dazzling dragonfly!
- Join our procession to the Iridescence sculpture
- Hear from the artists and enjoy a short poetry reading
Make Your Own Dragonfly - 11.45am - 12.45pm
Drop into our Discovery Centre and create your very own dragonfly using colourful materials. Take a look at our dragonfly and damselfly guide before you visit to inspire your creations.
Dragonfly Face Painting - 11am - 3pm
Get the look and become as pretty as a dragonfly with our free face painting! Our talented artist will give you a magical makeover - perfect for a day of dragonflying.
The Dragonfly Parade
Bring your handmade dragonfly to our picture window and join our opening parade through Hollowood to the Reservoir to the Iridescence sculpture, or come along just to enjoy the atmosphere and join in the celebration!
How much does it cost to take part?
There is no cost to take part. Everything is included in your entrance ticket price, which is free for WWT members. Book your WWT Llanelli entrance tickets online in advance and save 10%.
There is no need to book in advance for any of the Dragonfly Parade activities.
