Cost: £80 per person. Booking essential. Lunch included.
Join us for a creative day exploring the art of block printing on fabric and paper.
Suitable for beginners and those with some experience of block printing, the day’s workshop is informal and relaxed with lots of support and guidance.
We’ll start by working with a selection of commercial blocks, learning inking and printing techniques to create beautiful, custom wrapping paper. As the day progresses, we’ll move on to printing on fabric.
You’ll also have the chance to design and carve your own printing block, which you can take home and use again and again. Along the way, we’ll explore:
- Simple cutting techniques
- What works well as a pattern
- Simple repeat patterns

What to bring:
Any paper or fabric you’d like to experiment with (fabric should be natural. Like cotton).
Wear old clothes or bring along an old shirt/apron to protect clothing. Printing is inevitably messy!
Any inspirational images or ideas you would like to develop as prints. You could also take inspiration from our wetlands with the guided tour, or Sue can help provide some ideas if you are not sure where to start.
The workshop takes place in our warm and well-lit pond room with views out onto bird feeders and wetlands beyond. Lunch and morning refreshments are included, the Wigeon cafe is open until 4.30pm if you would like to end the day with a relaxing drink on the first floor.
