One day pop-up paper workshop with artist Sue Welfare.

Time: 10am-4pm

Cost: £75 per person. Booking essential. Lunch included.

Discover the magic of pop-ups in this fun and creative introductory workshop!

Whether you’re looking to create unique cards, miniature books, or stand-alone projects, this workshop will introduce you to simple pop-up mechanisms that can be transformed into your own exquisite miniature worlds.

During the workshop, you’ll have the chance to:

  • Learn the basics of pop-up mechanisms
  • Create your own designs using drawing, painting, or collage techniques
  • Experiment with repurposed materials like children’s books, greeting cards, magazines, and catalogues

The day involves:

  • 9.30am WWT Welney opens to the public
  • 10am arrival and welcome in our Pond Room
  • 10.05-10.55am Guided walk around WWT Welney
  • 11am Begin workshop with Sue in Pond Room (refreshments available)
  • 1pm Lunch provided in room
  • Finish between 3.30/4pm
  • Cafe open until 4.30pm
  • WWT Welney open until 5pm

What's included:
A range of materials including paper, glue, watercolours, basic cutting tools, collage supplies, support and guidance.

What to bring:
Old clothes to wear or an apron. Any old books, cards or images you'd like to incorporate. Feel free to bring along your own paints, drawing materials, or collage resources if you have something special in mind.

The workshop takes place in our warm and well-lit pond room with views out onto bird feeders and wetlands beyond. Lunch and morning refreshments are included, the Wigeon cafe is open until 4.30pm if you would like to end the day with a relaxing drink on the first floor.
