Access to WWT Welney is via A1101 at Littleport or A1101 at Welney Village. No access via A10 at Ten Mile Bank until 7 August.

Windy day here at Welney, water levels continue to rise which means only the Main observatory is open, however there continues to be lots of activity on the reserve with wildfowl and hunting birds of prey.

Due to high water levels on the Ouse Washes the largest number of birds to see are diving ducks in the day and swans from dusk. Lady Fen is providing the greater variety of birds, great views from the visitor centre.

Water levels are now dropping; as well as the main observatory, Nelson-Lyle and Lyle hides are open, but we recommend wearing of wellies to get to these hides as there are large areas of water and mud on the paths. Reedbed and Friends hides remain closed

We have opened the footpath to Nelson-Lyle hide this morning, Sun 5 January, as water levels are dropping. Wellies are essential to get to this additional hide from the main hide, as you are walking through standing water.
