Autumnwatch is back on our screens
Autumnwatch will be hitting our screens again from next Tuesday 30th October to the 2nd November with a programme every day. It will be shown from 8-9pm. Autumnwatch will include knowledge on bird migration which really reflects on what Martin Mere is all about.
Autumn is a great time to be getting out and about and spotting the change is season. From the leaves on the trees changing to the different type of birds spotted. As you know autumn is a fantastic time to visit the centre and view nature first hand. This time of year is when most types of birds struggle as temperatures drop, they do need more care from us. Feeding and water are essential for a birds survival. We have loads to offer our visitors at this time of year to help them care for birds. We will be teaching families how to make nest boxes that they and take home. As cold winters can kill a lot of birds through starvation we will show visitors how to make pinecones and log feeders and give them a chance to make them themselves. Feeding birds is an ideal way to enthuse children about wildlife. We encourage people to create and manage their gardens to provide a source of natural foods as well, through well managed lawns, shrubs and flowers. Providing birds with supplementary food will also bring wildlife closer to you so you can experience the wonder of nature.
