Chilean flamingos

ℹ️ Flamingos off show
Our flock of Chilean flamingos is currently being housed indoors. This is a temporary measure as a precaution to local avian influenza (bird flu).
We don't know how long this will last but we'll let you know as soon as they are safe to be back outdoors!
Thanks for your understanding.

'Nenenene' heralds new life despite wintry weather

Two Hawaiian goose goslings have defied the winter weather and hatched at our duckery, where they can now be seen by the public.

Also know as 'nenes' (pronounced 'naynays') because of their soft grumbling call, these gentle geese - classified as vulnerable by the IUCN - are hugely popular with visitors.

And in this image we snapped at the weekend, it appears we may have an even rarer version of the species on our hands - a two-headed one, no less!

Does that make it a 'nenenene' then? Or as one member said on our public group Facebook page, a 'push ne pull ne'!?
