Bird News

Despite a very foggy day a few birds were reported, an adult Mediterranean Gull spent some time on the Mere in the morning. Other sightings included the pair of Tawny Owls near Kingfisher Hide. One of the Water Rails was showing very well from Ron Barker Hide.

Around a 1000 Pink-footed Geese were feeding in fields just off the reserve this morning in fields along Curlew Lane.

Marsh Harrier, Buzzard and Sparrowhawk were seen.

At least 50 Ruff were around the Mere with a few Snipe seen as well, also still a few Black-tailed Godwit around.

Plenty of Tree Sparrow and Reed Bunting to see around the reserve.
